Aliexpress.com is a Chinese e-commerce site of the Alibaba Group that specializes in selling products at low prices, to consumers (B2C) and internationally1. This site was born in 2010 from the desire of Alibaba to create the equivalent in English and with an international vocation of its site in Chinese language Taobao, reserved for China. The chairman of AliExpress is Jack Ma. AliExpress's parent company is based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China.
This site operates on the same principle as Amazon.com and partially eBay, like a central online stores, which puts Chinese resellers directly in touch with individuals, rather than going through intermediaries, and judges the various products and resellers based on customer feedback. AliExpress is one of the top 50 most visited sites in the world.
It is best known for electronic components (especially smartphones) and fashion accessories.
There is an AliExpress app for Android (Google), iOS (Apple) mobile systems, as well as Yun OS (Alibaba's operating system).
The online shopping site offers a refund system in the event of non-receipt or too great a difference between the product and its description.
In November 2018, the Alibaba group announced the launch by its AliExpress subsidiary of a mini-space station, called “Candy Tin”, and a satellite called “Tmall International”, in reference to its online sales site.
In September 2018, Alibaba, present in Russia with its subsidiary AliExpress, signed a partnership with Russian telecoms and e-commerce leaders MegaFon and Mail.ru.
In 2019, the company also opened a physical store in Spain, in Madrid.
