 Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving, is a harvest festival celebrated in Canada, the United States, some Caribbean islands, and Liberia. Originally, it was a day of thanks for the harvest and for the past year. Similar end-of-year holidays are celebrated in Germany, Switzerland and Japan.
Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October in Canada, where it is called Thanksgiving, on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, and during the same time of year in other countries. Although Thanksgiving has its roots in religious and cultural traditions, this holiday has long been celebrated as a secular holiday.

Under the Third Reich, in Germany, the festival was instrumentalized by the Nazi Party and gave rise, in Hamelin, to large annual gatherings during the Reich harvest festival.
In Switzerland, it is the Federal Fast, celebrated on the third Sunday of September and only in the canton of Vaud and also in the canton of Neuchatel, which is the day of thanksgiving which represents Thanksgiving.
